This case opens up the question... why is it illegal and considered "murder" for these two doctors, yet Leroy Carhart does the same procedure and it is considered "abortion?" Why is Leroy Carhart who is performing late-term abortions on viable fetuses at Germantown Reproductive Health Services not charged with murder like these two doctors? How much longer does this have to happen before he is charged with murder? Does a woman need to be seriously injured or die for Maryland authorities to wake up and realize what is happening here? Carhart is already under investigation for killing Christin Gilbert.
The laws in Maryland specify that an abortion can be performed at any time during a pregnancy because of health risk to the mother (which includes "distress... associated with an unwanted pregnancy") or fetal abnormality. So a mother who is "distressed" but is perfectly healthy and has a perfectly healthy baby can abort her child at any time during a pregnancy. This would include the second before birth! How does this tie in to the "Unborn Victims of Violence Act" that was passed in 2005? "Anyone causing the death of a viable fetus may be prosecuted for murder or mansluaghter, if there was intent to kill or cause serious physical injury to the fetus." Leroy Carhart and the staff of Germantown Reproductive Health Services get paid thousand of dollars to "cause the death of a viable fetus" ever week in Germantown, MD. It is truly heartbreaking to see clearly pregnant women waddle into the clinic almost every Sunday night and Monday morning to start the 3 to 5 day procedure of killing and dismembering their children.

It appears the difference between Carhart vs. Riley and Brigham is the fact Riley and Brigham didn't have the proper licenses and started the procedure in a different state. It appears if you have a license and do the whole procedure in Marlyand it is called "Abortion" but if you do the exact same procedure without the proper license it's considered "Murder." The grand jury report is supposed to be coming out early in the week, so we should have more details soon. I suspect one day soon people will be reading the grand jury report of Leroy Carhart, his wife, and the staff of Germantown Reproductive Health Services being convicted of multiple counts of murder.
This whole situation reminds me of what is happening in Germany as they are reopening war criminal investigations against people who were involved in the Holocaust. 70 years after this heart wrenching mass murder happened, criminals are still being prosecuted. The abortionists and their families, the staff of abortion facilities and their families, and the landlords of the abortion facilities will all be held accountable for their part in the murder of the over 50,000,000 lives that have been lost since Roe v. Wade.
As Christians, we need to stand up against this evil. Along with the abortionists, I also believe that we will be held accountable for our apathy and lack of action. Not legally like the people actually performing the procedure, but morally for not taking action and being the voice for the unborn children who are being ripped limb from limb at Germantown Reproductive Health Services. As Martin Luther King Jr. said "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it."
It's very interesting to me that "distress" can be a reason to murder a baby, but the "distress" that a woman suffers after the baby is dead is dismissed, ignored. How is it that people don't recognize this is an effort to manipulate this woman in crisis? How is it that people don't recognize that making no effort to offer her life-affirming options is placing a judgment on her that she's not capable of making the best decision for her own child?
